“Well then, the first quarter of Team 1 vs Team 2 – 3v3 – begins now!” Claudette informed as she threw the ball up. Immediately, Denise jumped up but Germaine remained on the ground
Chapter 2: Late
Immediately, Denise smacked the ball down and her teammate Fione got it.
“Freak you Germaine! Be more alert!” June yelled at Germaine as she stole the ball from the hands of Fione.
“Pay attention.” Yuki whispered encouragingly as she walked pass Germaine. Germaine nodded meekly and followed the advance.
“Yuki.” June called out as she passed the ball to Yuki. Yuki smiled a compliment as she dribbled to the other half. Denise instinctively stood forward and blocked her. Yuki stopped and with a swift movement, she dribbled passed Denise defense and was already heading for the hoop.
“You wish!” Fione revoked as she jumped up to intercept the lay up leaving Germaine without a guard. Yuki smirked and passed the ball to Germaine shocking her. Germaine stared at the ball and glanced sides way sending silent pleas of help. Seeing that Germaine was the weakest link among the 3, Denis broke away from Yuki and headed towards Germaine.
“Shoot Germaine! Shoot!” June yelled as she struggled to break free. Afraid to let down her team mates, Germaine immediately shoot the ball without thinking. Knowing that it will fall short, Yuki ran towards June with Fione on her tail.
“Go” Yuki mouthed. Nodding, June ran towards the basket. Unwilling to let her ‘prey’ go, Evangeline chased after her but failed to pursue any further due to Yuki.
The basketball rebounded off the rim. June jumped up and using her fingertips, she tipped the basketball into the net.
“Nice.” Yuki commented as she gave her a high five.
Soon, the Sun started to set and the once azure sky now burst into an array of colours. Taking a deep breath, Claudette gave out a loud call for them to gather. The members – already drained by the training – dragged their feet to form a semi circle around her. Claudette quickly debriefed them before dismissing them. At the notice of dismissal, the team disintegrated into their cliques and chattered away. Everybody were so happy talking, that they all failed to notice a petite girl slip out of the hall silently.

Silently, Germaine walked down the well litted street. Her mind was full of the match. Sighing, she knew that whatever she do. She have to improve on her basketball skills. Then, she saw a small white cat with black spots purring as it devoured a fish. Thinking that the cat was cute, Germaine walked towards it, but when the cat heard the sounds of her footstep, it looked up and saw Germaine. It stared at it for awhile before bowing back to eat the fish. Suddenly, it ears pricked and it looked back up once again. It then arose and turned and scurried up the stairs. Germaine curious on where it was going, chased after it. As it raced through the dim open stairway. When, Germaine finished running up the stairway, a sudden glare of bright light shone. After awhile, Germaine’s eyes got use to the bright light and she saw a basketball court infront of her. She scanned around the basketball court and saw the cat that she saw before snuggling with a basketball. Germaine slowly walked towards the cat. She bent down and touched the basketball. She picked it up and dribbled it towards the free throw line. Taking a deep breath, she flicked her wrist, and the basketball missed the rim.
“Your position is wrong. Your feet should be about shoulder-width apart. Knees slightly bent. Back straight. The ball should be resting on the fingertips of your shooting hand slightly above the head, with your other hand supporting the side of the ball.” Shocked at the sudden instruction, Germaine turned and saw a beautiful girl with shoulder length navy hair.
“ To aim,” she continued as she approached Germaine “your elbow should be aligned vertically. When shooting, you should extend the bended knees and straighten the shooting arm.“ She said. Following the strangers instructions, she shot another basket and went it went in. Amazed, Germaine turned and looked at the girl in awe.
“Haha, don’t look at me like that, the technique never change, but how you do it if you don’t practice will change.

Anne and Biella sat opposite each other as they sipped their lattes.
“Hmmm… she did not come today.” Anne sighed. Biella smiled as she stirred her latte.
“She said something about Spots being lonely… but, maybe she just do not want to see the basketball court bench.” Anne grumbled. Biella laughed.
“Come on, Rejection on the first day of spring? If she comes for training, their common dating place, I think everybody will think that aliens zapped her when she was sleeping, changed her brains and then let her wake up.” Biella chuckled.
“But, I heard that it was she who initiated the break up.” Anne pondered.
“Initiation a break up doesn’t mean the lost of feelings.” Biella nodded intelligently.
“Whatever.” Anne mummbled.
“But, the fact still remains that until she return, our ace is gone.” Anne said solemnly. Biella nodded and they both remained silent as they looked out of the café window as they saw the world walk by.
